GREECE IS THE WORD:What began as a collaborative luggage project resulted in an arranged marriage of sorts and a new puppy for Sofía Sanchez de Betak.

The Argentinian art director and graphic designer was recruited to design a limited-edition collection for The Luxury Collection, part of the Starwood group of hotels, and British luggage brand Globe-Trotter, inspired by her last summer vacation in Greece, where she stayed at The Luxury Collection’s resorts in Mykonos, Costa Navarino, Athens and Santorini.

The collection of four suitcases was launched in London on Friday and celebrated later that night with an intimate dinner at Casa Cruz, where Sanchez de Betak was joined by  husband Alex de Betak, model Tatiana Cotliar, Natalia Vodianova and Antoine Arnault, Vanessa von Bismarck, Nicholas Kirkwood, Peter Pilotto and Christopher de Vos.

“For the design of this luggage collection, I wanted to create a scavenger hunt map inspired by my trip to Greece for fellow travelers to follow on my Instagram feed,” said Sanchez de Betak, who posted cryptic clues for her followers to solve in order to win one of the new suitcases.

“People had to post creative pictures to answer to my Instagram clues and someone in Argentina posted a picture of a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, which my mom was really excited about because my family in Argentina has two King Charles Spaniels and we wanted to mate them, but we thought they were the only ones in the country,” she told WWD. “So my mom started commenting and then they started doing an arranged marriage between the dogs, so I think we’re getting puppies this year in a few months and I’m going to get one!”

Vodianova, who is expecting her fifth child in June, made an early departure from the dinner in order to rest up before her Fabulous Fund Fair. “It’s going to be twice as big as last year,” she told WWD. “We have life-size bumper cars this time! And Karlie Kloss and I will be hosting a ‘Wheel of Fortune’ in a special area.”

The suitcases, each featuring a different illustration of the destinations visited by Sanchez de Betak, are available online at globe-trotter.com and exclusively at the Globe-Trotter store in London for 1,050 pounds, or $1,503 at current exchange.
